Browsers and cookies

Browsers try to speed up your web browsing experience by saving images and other web page data that it thinks is unlikely to change between visits.

Cookies are small files that websites leave on your computer. They often perform useful functions such as knowing that you visited the site before and remembering your preferences for that site, but can also be used to track visitors access web sites.

Both the browser cache and cookies can cause minor issues when using Proton Mail (for example, by pulling data from the cache instead of from an updated web page).  These minor issues can often be fixed by clearing the cache and deleting cookies.

In this article, we show you how this is done for all major browsers.
