With Save for later, you can save files shared via public links to your own Proton Drive account. These files will be organized into a dedicated space where you can access them at any time.

What is Save for later?

Proton Drive’s Save for later feature lets you save files or folders attached to a public sharing link directly to your own Proton Drive account. Items saved using this feature will automatically appear in your Shared with me folder where they can be accessed at any time or until the public link expires.

How to use Save for later

1. Click the public Proton Drive sharing link to open the item in your browser.

2. Once opened, click Save for Later at the top right of the screen.

  • If you have a Proton Drive account, log in
  • If you don’t have an account, sign up and get 5GB of encrypted storage.

    3. When you log in or sign up, the file will automatically be saved to your drive. You can find it in your Shared with me folder.

    Do I need a Proton Drive account to use Save for later?

    Yes, you’ll need to either log in to an existing Proton Drive account or create a new one to save files using this feature.

    Can I download the file to my device instead?

    Yes, you can download the file directly to your device using Scan & download if preferred. However, saving it to Proton Drive ensures enhanced security and accessibility.

    Where can I find the files I saved using Save for later?

    Files saved using Save for later are located in the Shared with me folder in your Proton Drive account.

    Is Save for later available on all platforms?

    Currently, this feature is only available when using Proton Drive in your browser. Stay tuned for updates regarding availability on our mobile and desktop apps.

    Can I use Save for later for any shared link?

    The feature works for any public shared link that provides view-only access to a file or folder.
